Morris Mini Cooper S
Built in 1969 and first registered in 1970, this car has been known to us for many years havng always been in Cumbria and owned by a good friend in the early 90s. It has been extensively restored and then dry stored for a number of years until we tripped across it and recognised it immediately!
This Mk2 Cooper S is one of very few for hire in the country and is a classic car bringing back the fun and memories of the 60s and 70s!
The car was subject to an extensive restoration in South Cumbria and was featured in Restoring Classic Cars magazine in the late 80s. We have a full invoice record of all that was spent and done by this owner and the following owner who restored it again in the 90s. Nothing was spared to create an impressive period ‘Morris Mini Cooper S’ finished in almond green with a snowberry white roof, full leather seats with inlays of green piping to suit, Wood and Pickett dash with centre console, Wood and Pickett arches with 13” Minilite wheels, powered by a 1380cc tuned engine with twin 1.5” SU carbs, a fast road cam all coupled to a Jack Knight five speed straight cut gearbox. The brakes are uprated and suspension stiffened to suit.
A seriously fun car to drive that puts a smile on your face – on start up it sings to you as if bouncing like Tigger ready to get going, and then responds as you need it whilst enjoying the roads, scenery, and exhaust note. This car was brought to Cumbria - the Lake District in 1970 and still enjoys getting out there just as any healthy fell walker does!
A great British icon in an iconic area ready to be enjoyed!
